Davrac Quarter Horse Stud is located in the Central West town of Dubbo in rural NSW. The stud is situated just 10km from town and is easily accessible for horse transporters to collect and deliver breeding mares, located just off the major interstate roadway, The Newell Highway.
At Davrac, we believe that type may be influenced by fashion and finance, but eventually, we as breeders have a responsibility for the preservation of the breed. With this in mind, we studied the market and discovered the lack of the tried and tested bloodlines of old. With this knowledge in mind we researched what bloodlines had a major influence on the industry both past and present. Where ever we looked they all had one thing in common, they all traced back to Three Bars. Be it in the cutting pen, halter arena, pleasure arena or racetrack, all the greats had Three Bars breeding. With Three Bars proving to be such a pre-potent sire, we decided to get some Three Bars bloodstock of our own and attempt to build a breeding dynasty.
At Davrac we breed and select horses with good work ethic and unflappable temperament, with emphasis on versatility and performance across many disciplines. We choose to breed more for type than for actual breed lines. Over time we have developed an understanding of the bloodlines that breed the type horse that we prefer. We recognize that particular breed lines are deemed better suited to certain disciplines than other lines, but we strongly believe that conformation and temperament is foremost when choosing a horse for any discipline. With conformation comes balance, and with balance comes movement. Once you have these traits and attributes, than breed lines are an added bonus.
